Secca
Secca is a poetic sculpture that is handcrafted by skilled glassmakers in Japan. The orb is made of a three-part structure in which a layer of soft glass is sandwiched between hard glass. Over time, the inner layer will begin to crack due to the difference in the physical properties of the two kinds of glass. Cracks will increase little by little over about three years after being manufactured. Each Secca orb will develop differently, a physical testament to the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi and the unpredictable chaos of the universe.
