Released in 1959, Miles Davis’s Kind of Blue became the best-selling jazz album of all time and, for us and countless others, remains the quintessential jazz recording. Its extraordinary ensemble reads like a gathering of masters: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Bill Evans, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb—musicians who, together, created something remarkably spacious, spontaneous and timeless.
