Kind Of Blue (Mono)

Released in 1959, Miles Davis’s Kind of Blue became the best-selling jazz album of all time and, for us and countless others, remains the quintessential jazz recording. Its extraordinary ensemble reads like a gathering of masters: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Bill Evans, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb—musicians who, together, created something remarkably spacious, spontaneous and timeless.

Built around a then-radical approach to modal improvisation, the album gave its musicians room to listen, respond and discover the music as they played. The result is five compositions that somehow remain as immediate and mysterious today as they must have sounded in 1959.

This 2014 remastered mono edition brings the music back to the focused, beautifully cohesive presentation of the original mono release. If Kind of Blue is an essential record—and we believe it is—this is how we love to experience it: on vinyl, in mono, filling a room.
