Make a toast to traditional Japanese craftsmanship with these beautiful wooden coasters. The assorted geometric patterns are created without the use of dyes or inks. The intricate shapes and vibrant colors are achieved through a technique known as Yosegi marquetry. Long sticks of wood are stacked and glued into six-sided logs and each coaster represents a thin cross-section that is carefully shaved from the larger piece. The painstaking process requires hard-won expertise that is vanishingly rare in modern times.
These Yosegi coasters are of the highest possible quality, fashioned by hand by the master craftsmen of the legendary Honma Workshop in Hakone, Japan. The set includes a variety of 4 coasters, each roughly 3.5" wide.
