Ripple Out may be our new favorite puzzle box and not just because it's perfect for hiding a rare deck of playing cards.
The high contrast design features an undulating pattern reminiscent of ripples on water. The top panels slide back and forth with a satisfying click, creating a variety of beautiful wave patterns. Below, a locked drawer offers a subtle clue as to how it might be opened. No brute force is required. To open the box, you'll have to attune yourself to the gentle flow of the wooden waves. Created by a relatively young designer named Osamu Kasho, Ripple Out is proof that the future of Japanese puzzle boxes is in good hands.
Crafted from Walnut, Rosewood and Maple, the box measures roughly 5.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 inches with a storage drawer of 4 x 3.5 x 1 (big enough to fit a deck of playing cards).
Handmade in the Hakone mountains of Japan.
